    Summit could pull of the rare sweep by winning both the individual titles and team titles at the boys and girls state cross country meets this coming Saturday @ Lane Community College in Eugene.

    Travis Neuman dominating the XC season

    Travis Neuman
    was second in the Class 5A state meet as a sophomore in 2010. Not only is Neuman the fastest 5A runner in Oregon this season, he’s the fastest runner in Oregon high school cross country period.

    Anthony Armstrong of Kamiakin, Washington is the only runner to beat Neuman in a race this season. He ran a 15:00 flat at the New Balance (where Neuman fan a 15:30). Armstrong is one of the top runners in the Nation with a time of 14:55 in a meet.

    Neuman has clocked several of the best times in Oregon and is the heavy favorite to win the first individual state title in Summit boys history.

    The Oxford Class (formerly Lava Bear Classic) cross county meet in downtown Bend’s Drake Park is one of the best CO sporting events of the year.

    Friday, October 7th in Drake Park, varsity elite races @ 3:30 and 4pm.

    Bend, Mountain View and Summit racing head-to-head in the girls race will feature three of the best 5A teams in the state and will be a great preview of the district meet, with those three teams fighting for just two spots in the state tournament.

    Summit and South Eugene combine to have five of the state’s fastest seven girls in Oregon so far this season.

    The Summit Storm cross country team looks like they aren’t just good, they are special! Here are some of the amazing numbers:

    • 15:06 - Travis Neuman’s time in the Harrier Classic. This may be the fastest 5K XC time ever run by a Central Oregon prep runner. It is the fastest time in the state of Oregon this season by 18 seconds. It’s a new Summit record and the second fastest time by an Oregon runner since 2005.
    • 17:53 – Megan Fristoe’s time @ Harrier Classic. The fastest of any Oregon girl this season. A new Summit record. Very few prep girls ever go under 18 minutes in a 5K.
    • 18:09 – Ashley Maton’s time @ Harrier Classic. 3rd fastest among all girls in Oregon this year.
    • 15:38.6 – Eric Alldritt’s time @ Harrier Classic, the 4th fastest of any Oregon boy.
