Max King wins another world title

Bend’s Max King won the 2011 XTERRA Trail World Championships this past weekend on the Hawaiian island of Oahu.

King is the King of trail running and continues to add titles to his amazing collection.

Summit goes for perfect storm @ state XC meet

Great article in today’s Bend Bulletin by Beau Eastes about Summit going for both the boys and girls state team titles in Class 5A state cross county this Saturday @ Lane Community College in Eugene. It got me thinking… has any team ever won all four state titles (boys and girls team plus boys and girls individuals)? The answer is no… at least, not yet!

Not only could Summit sweep the team titles, but the individual titles with front runners Travis Neuman and Megan Fristoe. No team has ever won all four titles.

HERE ARE THE FACTS:
• Last team to win both the boys and girls state team titles – Jesuit 2008
• Central Oregon team to win both boys and girls state team titles – Bend High 3 times
• Teams to win both boys and girls titles - 9 different teams
• Teams to win both individual titles – St. Mary’s 2000, Glendale 1993, Oakland 1983,
• Winning three out of four – Oakland 1983

Central Oregon’s high school cross-county success is well documented and you need not look any further than all of the state-team titles that area schools have produced. Here’s a look at the 10 athletes who have won individuals high school state championships.

The boys have had a bit of a drought, with no team title since Bend in 2001 and Bend’s Lane Neely in 2000.
