    Crescent Valley had won every Class 5A girls state swimming team title since reclassification in 2007. But the Summit girls have now won their first ever state swimming title.

    “Led by freshman Tommy Brewer, Summit cruised to a decisive victory over runner-up Ashland for the team title. Summit had 61 points, followed by Ashland with 40 and Pendleton with 38. Brewer, Summit’s only individual or relay winner, set meet records in winning the 50 and 100 freestyle.

    Joining Brewer as a two-event winning were Springfield sophomore Carlos Hunnicut and Marist junior Alex Seaver. Hunnicut toppled defending champion Brandon Deckard in winning the 200 individual, and repeated as the winner in 100 butterfly. Seaver was the meet’s long-distance ace, capturing the 200 and 500 freestyle. Cleveland won two events, as senior Sam Donohue took first in the back and was part of the team’s victorious 200 medley relay. North Eugene ”

    The OSAA 5A Special District 4 Regionals were on February 10 and 11 at Eagle Point High School in Eagle Point. The Special District 4 is made up of teams from the Oregon Coast, Southern Oregon the Eugene Area and Central Oregon.

    19 wrestlers qualified for the OSAA State Tournament held at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Portland on the February 24 and 25.

    Mt View lead the pace of Central Oregon Schools with 2 Champions within their weight class JT Ayers at 106 lbs and Trevor Roberts at 195 lbs and a total of 8 wrestlers heading to Portland followed by Bend High with 7 and Summit 4
