4A – Mazama (4A began playing by itself in 2010).
4A/3A/2A/1A – Hidden Valley 2, Catlin Gabel, Gladstone, Philomath
Also, since 2006:
• Jesuit is riding a two-year big school championship streak.
• Hidden Valley won the first two small school championships.
• In CLass 5A, Mountain View has been a two-time runner-up, first to Bend and then to Summit.
• In Class 6A, Westview is a two-time runner-up.
• In 2010, three Central Oregon schools reached the state championship games in their classification. Summit defeated Mountain View for the 5A title and Sisters fell to Mazama in the 4A championship.
• With Lincoln now a member of the Metro League, that league has 4 of 5 title winners for large schools.

Also, since 2006:
• Only the 2006 McLoughlin team has gone undefeated with no ties.
• Four teams have not lost a game, but had at least one tie en route to winning state (Glencoe, Central Catholic, Cottage Grove and South Salem).
• No 5A or 6A team has won more than one state title since reclassification.
• Private schools have won all of the “small school” state titles.
• Only two championship games were settled in overtime (both in 2010).
• 2006 5A state title game was the only one to be settled by penalty kicks.

Hayden Crook just finished up a very busy Fall where he starred on the Bend High soccer team and was the kicker on the football team. He didn’t take much of a break as now he’s leading the Lava Bear’s basketball team. The speedy Crook slowed down long enough to answer a few questions for Central Oregon Athlete:

COA – What sports do you play?
HC – Soccer, football, basketball
COA – How do you manage such a busy Fall of sports?
HC – It is very tough to manage but it helps having two great coaches who let you work with both teams.
COA – What are you goals for this basketball season?
HC – To average 16 points a game, to be 1st team all league, to win the league title
COA – Do you have a favorite sport?
HC – I dont really have a favorite sport but if i had to pick right now it would be basketball.
COA – What do you like to do when you aren’t playing sports?
HC – Sports is basically my life but when I am not playing sports I like to chill with my friends
COA – What are your biggest strengths on the basketball court?
HC – I believe my biggest strengths on the court would be shooting, and my quickness to get by people.
COA – What is your favorite workout in Central Oregon?
HC – My favorite workout in central oregon would probably be running the butte 2-3 times.
COA – What is the best part of playing sports @ Bend High?
HC – The best part about playing sports at Bend high I think is the amazing tradition we have in winning.

Summit beat Mountain View 1-0 to win the Class 5A girls state soccer championship on Saturday. The two schools also finished first and second in girls cross country this season. They both placed in volleyball as well.

Sisters beats Scappoose 2-1, will take on Mazama in the finals.
