I already did this for the Class 5A so I was curious how the 6A would look. No big surprise that Jesuit dominated both sides. On the boys’ side, Beaverton was second… that caught me by surprise a little bit.

Top stories from Oregon state cross country

    COA,Feature — Tags: , , , , , — Josh Cordell @ 4:35 pm

Jesuit Girls – Won their 9th-straight big school state championship. They may be the most dominant team in Oregon high school history.

Crater Boys – After dominating the 5A level, Crater had no problem with their move up to Class 6A. They won the class 6A meet and became the first public school to win the big division since Bend did in 2001. Central Catholic and Jesuit had dominated the big school meet. CC finished 2nd and Jesuit 3rd this year.

Summit Girls – The 35 points they scored were a best by any school at any level in 2010. It was the Storm’s third-straight team title.

Megan Fristoe – Won her second-straight 5A state title.

Travis Neuman – Finished second in the Class 5A boys race. Becoming the second Summit boy to finish 2nd @ the state meet, joining his older brother Kenyon Neuman, who was 2nd in 2004.

Annamarie Maag- Won her third-straight 6A state title. She didn’t race as a freshman so she finishes undefeated @ the state meet.

Hermiston Boys – Putting 4 boys in the top 10, the Bulldogs destroyed the State 5A boys meet.

Matthew Melancon – The Sheldon senior won the Class 6A boys championship, in just his third race of the season. He also won the Concordia Puma Classic with a smoking fast time of 15:10. Melancon was 11th at the state meet as a junior and just the 5th fastest returner.

Paige Rice - Took 2nd as a freshman in the 6A girls race.

Payton Schutte – May not have won an individual state title, but she had an amazing career @ Jesuit. 4 state teams titles and state placings of 12th, 5th, 2nd and 3rd as an individual.

Alisha Luna – The Klamath Union sophomore won the 4A girls race by 20 seconds.

The old IMC – The split up of the Intermountain Conference worked out well for those teams as they had a better opportunity to qualify for state. Girls – 1 Summit, 2 Mountain View, 4 Pendleton, 11 Hermiston. Boys – 1 Hermiston, 5 Summit, 6 Mountain View.

Ian Burgess – The Franklin senior won the 5A boys race in convincing fashion. He became the second runner from Franklin to win state in 4 years. Bryce Burgess won in 2007.
