The Intermountain Conference AKA 5A Special District 1 has dominated doubles since the reclassification five years ago… well on the girls side they were dominating well before the reclassification. The IMC has several current players who have won state doubles titles and should compete for state titles again this year.
On the boys side, doubles teams from Hermiston, Summit, Mountain View, Bend, The Dalles and Hood River Valley all should contend for state berths, with multiple teams from Hermiston and Summit among the top.
Champions:
2010 Hannah Shepard, Summit – The reigning Class 5A doubles champion.
2009 Paxton Deuel, Summit – A doubles champion as a freshman, Deuel made it to the semifinals in singles as a sophomore. Deuel will play singles again this year.
2009 Bryn Oliviera, Bend – After winning the doubles title as a sophomore Oliviera played singles her junior year.
Semifinals:
2010 Mary Hawman, Hermiston
Boys Champions:
2009 Summit
2008 Summit
2007 Summit

Changes in realignment, hybrid conferences and a new state tournament highlight the 2010 Oregon high school boys soccer season. Everything is going to be a little different as the OSAA made some major changes prior to the season. Here’s how things went last year and how they lineup this year.
The Salem-area schools (Central Valley Conference) were tough in Class 6A last year, with three of the eighth quarterfinal teams (West Salem, McNary and South Salem) with South Salem winning it all. Apart from losing Redmond not much changes in the CVC. South Medford beat Jesuit 1-0 in the semifinal before falling to South Salem 2-1.
In Class 5A, the Intermountain Conference is now just three teams (Bend, Mountain View and Summit). That’s a tough one considering that Summit was the IMC champion last year and Mountain View beat Bend in the state semifinals. 5A state-champion Corvallis is part of the eight-team Mid-Willamette Conference.
2009 State Champions
6A – South Salem
5A – Corvallis
4A – La Salle Prep
3A/2A/1A – Oregon Episcopal

All 8 Intermountain Conference teams are in action tonight and the IMC is starting to look a little like the Pac-10, where a two-game when streak here and there may be all it take to finish in the top half. Here’s a look at tonight’s games:
The Dalles-Wahtonka (4-1) @ MADRAS (1-4) – A huge game for the White Buffaloes, but after starting league play @ 1-4, they all are. TDW comes in with a 3-game win streak
Summit (3-2) @ BEND (3-2) – Tied @ 3-2, this game is for sole possession of 4th place in the IMC as we near the midway point of the IMC season. If the averages stay true to form, expect a close game in the mid to low 50s… that’s score not temperature, we’ll kill for that kind of weather right now!
Mountain View (4-1) @ CROOK COUNTY (0-5) – This would be an upset of monumental proportions, considering that the Cowboys haven’t won a game yet this year. The Cougars have only lost once all year and this should be a good tune up for Friday Civil War game against Bend.
Pendleton @ HERMISTON – One of the better rivalries in the state. The fact that Pendleton is hot and Hermiston is struggling can get thrown out the window when these two meet, especially since the game is @ Hermiston, a place the Bulldogs have been tough to beat.
