Last year Summit and Mountain View finished 1-2 in the Class 5A girls state cross country championship with the Storm winning their 3rd state team title in a row.

Summit is led again this year by two-time state individual champion Megan Fristoe and a total of six runners who competed at state last year.

Add to this group a very talented freshmen class led by Summit’s Piper McDonald and you’ve got an incredible field of female harriers in Bend.

HOW THEY DID @ STATE IN 2010
    1 Megan Fristoe 12 Summit 18:37
    3 Jenna Mattox 11 Bend 19:13
    10 Ashley Maton 12 Summit 19:45
    13 Sara Fristoe 12 Summit 19:49
    14 Kira Kelly 12 Summit 19:51
    15 Hayati Wolfenden 12 Mountain View 20:01
    19 Brit Oliphant 11 Summit 20:11
    23 Melissa Hubler 11 Bend 20:21
    32 Logan Brown 12 Mountain View 20:54
    39 Jessica Wolfe 12 Mountain View 21:05
    40 Tess Nelson 11 Summit 21:10
    41 Krysta Kroeger 11 Mountain View 21:11
    54 Mikayla Cant 11 Mountain View 21:26

While champion Summit brings back 6 of 7, runner-up MV returns 5 of 7 so the two teams have to be favors to repeat… but Bend high will look to steal one of the two team spots @ state from the super tough district meet. Should be a great season!

Please check this site for more information re: next week. Be prepared to do some inside training if we can secure some space at the school.
