    The best Oregon prep boys soccer teams since reclassification

    All the state champions since Oregon moved to a 6 Classifications in 2006:
    6A – Jesuit, South Salem, Grant, Central Catholic, McMinnville.
    5A – Woodburn, Corvallis, Churchill, Glencoe, Hillsboro.
    4A – McLoughlin 2, Stayton, La Salle Prep, Cottage Grove.
    3A/2A/1A – Oregon Episcopal 3, Catlin Gabel, Portland Christian.

    Also, since 2006:
    • Only the 2006 McLoughlin team has gone undefeated with no ties.
    • Four teams have not lost a game, but had at least one tie en route to winning state (Glencoe, Central Catholic, Cottage Grove and South Salem).
    • No 5A or 6A team has won more than one state title since reclassification.
    • Private schools have won all of the “small school” state titles.
    • Only two championship games were settled in overtime (both in 2010).
    • 2006 5A state title game was the only one to be settled by penalty kicks.

    Medford/Ashland boys tennis tournament preview (biggest high school boys tourney in Oregon)

    The 12-team North Medford/Ashland boys tennis tournament is the largest high school tennis tournament for boys in all of Oregon. The tourney takes place @ North Medford High School this Friday and Saturday April, 29 & 30. Many of the top 6A and 5A teams from around the state take part in the tourney. Players will play as many as four matches over the weekend.

    Summit Invite Boys tennis info

    Who – Bend, Hermiston, Hood River, Mountain View, Sprague and Summit.

    What – The most competitive boys high school tennis tournament in Central Oregon.

    When – Friday & Saturday, April 8-9. Matches start @ 11:45am on Friday and 8am on Saturday. Bend, Mountain View, Summit and Hood River need to be at the tournament desk @ 11:30am. Sprague and Hermiston need to report by 12:30pm.

    Cost – $100 per team.

    Where – The Athletic Club of Bend. All matches played indoors. We’ll be playing on six courts, with a middle (7th) court used for viewing. All players need to stay in the tennis area during the tournament and cannot use the rest of the Club.

    Tournament Format – It is a dual-match tournament with teams broken up into two pools. All matches will consist of 4 singles and 4 doubles. Matches will be 2 out of 3 sets, no-ad scoring with a match breaker for the third set. If a dual is tied 4-4, it will be decided based upon sets won, then games won. If the dual is tied after games, each team will have one player play a match breaker to decide the match.

    Teams can change their lineup from dual match to dual match.

    Timing – The tournament is continual and matches are not based on time, but on match number. You will be responsible for knowing when you are playing based on match order. Point-penalties and default for late arrival will be in effect. We are on a tight schedule on Friday.
