We all enjoyed the amazing run by Bend South Little League in the Little League World Series, where they won the 2011 State Championship and made it to the final game of the Regional Championships. So here is their roster, now we’ll have to watch and see what they accomplish from here. I know that most of them are multi-sport athletes. I’d imagine that playing on the big stage that they did will help them in whatever sports they choose to play. I’ve had a few of these kids in my tennis classes and I can tell you that Cameron Baker is going to be a stud basketball player. This is going to be fun for use to watch them grow up from here!

The drought continues for Central Oregon prep baseball and softball teams. All C.O. teams have now been eliminated from the postseason, meaning no area team will win a state title in either of the base running sports. The last C.O. team to win a state title with a bat was the Bend High baseball team back in 1987. No area softball team has ever won.
They are the three big sports for American males. Football, Basketball and Baseball. Since moving from Class 4A (the biggest at the time) to Class 5A (the second largest) Mountain View has had a lot of success in the “Big 3.” The least successful of those three has been baseball, but the Cougars made it to the quarters this year.
Many athletes cross over in these three sports, with some playing all three for MV. While Summit has become the Central Oregon power in sports like cross country, golf, tennis, swimming and track… the Cougars have remained at the top of the big three.
Here’s how Mountain View has done in state at those three sports.
