    2010 Oregon prep volleyball preview

Central Catholic will be looking to become the first school to repeat as the big-school state volleyball champion in Oregon since Gresham did back in 2001-2002. Central Catholic won the 2009 Class 6A title, their first since they had won the then 4A title in 2000.

Since Oregon moved to six classifications in 2006, Crook County has won all four Class 5A state volleyball titles. The good news for the rest of 5A is that in 2010 Crook County is moving to Class 4A. This move means a lot for Central Oregon schools. Sisters is the reigning 4A champions and will have to now deal with the Cowgirls. The Crook County move is good news for the Bend schools. Crook County beat Summit in the state finals in 2009 and 2007. Crook County beat Mountain View in the finals in 2008 and 2006.

    2009 State champions:
    6A – Central Catholic
    5A – Crook County
    4A – Sisters
    3A – Santiam Christian
    2A – Blanchet Catholic
    1A – Imbler

2010 5A Oregon girls state cross country preview

    Prep — Tags: , , , , , , , , , — Josh Cordell @ 10:08 pm

Bend’s Summit high school is the heavy favorite to repeat as the Class 5A girls state champions in Oregon prep cross country in 2010. While the Storm should lead the team race and have the returning individual state champion (junior Megan Fristoe), they won’t be the only fast group in Bend! Mountain View has several of the fastest girls in the state and sophomore Jenna Mattox of Bend is one of the state’s elite. Mountain View’s Jessica Wolfe was beaten only by Fristoe at the state meet, so look for lots of fast times in the newly formed 5A Special District 1 with Ashland, Bend, Eagle Point, Mountain View and Summit.

MV vs Jefferson for the state championship

    Prep — Tags: , , , , , — Josh Cordell @ 8:51 pm

It’s almost game time for the Class 5A boys basketball state championship. Mountain View of the IMC versus Jefferson of the PIL. Should be an exciting game. I’ll be live-blogging in on facebook @ The COA fan page.

This may be the biggest sporting event in Mountain View high school history.

The Jefferson girls just beat Wilsonville 50-40 in the girls final, so Jeff is going for a basketball double.
