Bend girls back in final

Posted on 18 November 2009 by Josh Cordell

The reigning-state champion Bend girls soccer team is back in the Class 5A state championship match for the 4th-straight year.

With the Lava Bear’s 3-1 win over Thurston on Tuesday, they have now reached the final every year since the re-classification and are going for their 3rd title in four tries.

Bend faces a tough Sherwood team in the final on Saturday at Liberty High School in Hillsboro @ 1pm. Sherwood (18-0 ) hasn’t allowed a goal yet in the playoffs, beating Summit 1-0 in the quarterfinals and outscoring its opponents 11-0 in three games. Not only is Sherwood undefeated on the season, they’ve outscored their opponents an astounding 82-1.
