  • Move the high school tennis season back two weeks

    COA,Feature — Tags: , , , , — Josh Cordell @ 6:28 pm

Here’s the idea, move the State tennis tournament back two weeks and do the same with the start of the tennis season. This would give you one week of practice before spring break. A week that typically is hit or miss for weather. What is would do is eliminate two weeks that are typically “miss” as in snow, rain, cold or all of the above.

    • The State baseball and softball championships are June 4th, two weeks after the state tennis championship this year.
    • The first two weeks of the tennis season are often in some of the worst weather of the whole year.
    • Most tennis teams don’t have access to indoor facilities, so this would be an even move for all.
    • Some fear that a later start would result in losing players to other sports. With good communication by coaches and between the coaches of other sports at the school, this shouldn’t be a problem.

I agree Rich, I’d love to see the boys tennis season moved to the Fall.
