Cody Kohlmoos comes up big in college tennis win

    COA,Feature — Tags: , , , , , , , , — Josh Cordell @ 1:21 am

Summit graduate and University of Montana tennis player Cody Kohlmoos had a big win for the University of Montana tennis team. “Kohlmoos clinches must-win for Montana”

You’ve got to love this quote from Cody – “In my match, (coach) Kris (Nord) came over and told me that that match was the reason that I had run all of those stairs, why I had worked so hard. I feel like what I have is fitness that is better than just about anyone. Out there I just ran harder than I have ever run before, not letting any balls to get away. I knew that if we were going to grind it out and if I could just keep running, eventually I could pull it off.”

Kohlmoos finished his tennis career @ Summit with some impressive numbers:
    • 2007 Class 5A State doubles champion (with Alex Walentin)
    • 2-time IMC league champion (1 singles & 1 doubles)
    • 75 career wins (2nd all-time @ Summit)
    • 3-time state qualifier (tied 1st)

Blazers and former Blazers coming up big in the playoffs

    COA,Feature,Pros — Tags: , , , , , — Josh Cordell @ 12:03 am

Brandon Roy – Roy had an Easter weekend performance to remember with his amazing 18 fourth-quarter points to lead the Blazers to a comeback win over the Mavs. It was the best Blazer performance I can remember seeing in a longtime and it had such a redemptive feel to it. I’m so happy for Roy and stoked that the series is now tied at 2-2.
    • Video of the comeback.
    • John Canzano’s take on B-Roy’s performance!

Wesley Matthews – Hit four big threes en route to a team-high 25 points in leading the Blazers to a must-win home game that put Portland on the board 1-2 in the first-round series with Dallas.

Jermaine O’Neal – Shocked everyone with his performance in game one of the Boston versus New York series. O’Neal was a perfect six of six from the field and had four huge blocked shots to lift the Celtics over the Knicks.

Zach Randolph – Z-Bo’s three-pointer with under a minute to play in game 3 lifted the Memphis Grizzlies to a 2-1 advantage over the San Antonio Spurs and it’s being called the biggest shot in Grizzlies’ history.

Dwight Howard steps it up in the playoffs

    Feature,Pros — Tags: , , , , , , , , — Josh Cordell @ 11:48 am

How awesome is the 59.0 points/rebounds/assists combined average that Dwight Howard has in two playoff games this season? Howard was third in the league with a pts/rebs/ass average of 38.3. LeBron James led the league with a 41.2 and rookie Blake Griffin was second with 38.4.

In 11 postseason games last year, James had the top average of 46.0 and now teammate Dwyane Wade was second with 45.6. James was also the regular season leader in 2009-2010 with a 45.6. Kevin Durant was second with 40.6.

Howard’s 59.0 is after just two games, but I can’t imagine that Atlanta can stop him and that serious could go seven games. So look for Superman to keep those numbers up!

Connor is exceptional regarding trustworthiness and character. His treatment of teammates is such that he makes everyone feel better about themselves. Connor has been a member of the Golf team for all 3 of his years at Summit. He is the kind on student athlete a coach greatly looks forward to working with daily. On match day he is responsible for picking up equipment from my classroom and making sure all teammates receive needed items at course sites. Connor makes our program much better and student-athelete orientated.

Mariah Defoe nominated by Head Girl’s Softball Coach Derrick Butcher:

Varsity Softball would like to nominate Mariah Defoe for AOM.  Mariah has been a leader, everywhere from leadership, sportsmanship and taking her own personal time to help improve other players in the program.  She’s usually the first to arrive and last to leave.  Mariah has voluntarily worked with other pitches to teach and encourage them and also never leaves until the field is maintained.  Her communication with other players is always positive and encouraging. Mariah is our starting pitcher, bats left or right and a very fast base runner.   She has and will continue to set the tone for our season.  Mariah also has a 3.67 gpa and participated this year in volleyball and basketball.
